Nannup to Perth.

 Friday 2/5/25.

After having a coffee at the Lavender Farm we drove down to Augusta and on to Cape Leeuwin lighthouse. The weather was showery and blowing a gale. However we still managed to see the lighthouse keepers house which is now a museum, and also climbed to the top of the lighthouse on a tour.

From the top of the lighthouse we could see where the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean meet.

Later in the afternoon we drove onto Busselton. The WA triathalon was on in town so we could only get a site in an old caravan park which turned out to be pretty dodgy. However we did meet some nice people there.

Saturday 3/5/25.

This morning we walked into town to have a look around and enjoyed a pub lunch before we visited the Busselton Jetty and the Underwater Observatory.

The jetty was originally 1.7klms long but was partially destroyed by a cyclone in 1979. It has since been restored partially, and is used for fishing and access to the Underwater Observatory. You can walk to the end of the jetty but we chose the train.

The Underwater Observatory is at the end of the jetty. You go down a spiral staircase with windows to look out to see the sea life and the soft coral growing on the jetty pylons.

We found out lots of interesting information about the fish and corals.

Bob checked out a few beers at the local brewery which was in the jetty area.

Sunday 4/5/25.
The next morning we travelled on to Bunbury which had a nice beachfront but was very busy and built up. As we were sick of towns we decided to leave the coast and go and find a bush camp. We found a bush caravan park at a dam near Waroona and booked an unpowered site. When we arrived to check in it was pouring rain so we decided to change our booking to a cabin. We were allocated a beautiful cabin with a verandah and a slow combustion heater.

We had a lovely evening there.
Monday 5/5/25.
The next day we headed back to the coast and checked  out Mandurah and Rockingham before heading over to Maida Vale to stay with our friends Daryl and Kathy.
