Cocklebiddy to Kalgoorlie.
Thursday 18/4/25.
We left Cocklebiddy and continued heading west. Just before we arrived at Balladonia we saw the roof of an old building so we did a U-turn and went in to check. The building was the old Balladonia telegraph station which was a very sad sight as it is being allowed to rot
The view from the front. The building was in the same design as the other stations but the main entrance was from the back.
The main room, probably the actual office.
View of one of the buildings ends.
Around the perimeter of the area was a fence constructed from stones.
Behind the building were many flattish mounds of rock and between the rocks the area had been dammed to harvest the rain off the rocks. All dams had some water in them.
We had noticed a station stay that looked good on Wikki Camps so we decided to give it ago and arrived at Fraser Range Station Stay. It turned out to be such a good place that we decided to stay 2 nights.
After setting up we did part of one of the walks. There are 4 walks you can do.
The place was very full the first night but absolutely chock a block the second night. We got to talk to other campers in the camp kitchen.
The next day we did another of the walks. Fraser Range is a sheep station but we didn’t see any sheep.
The bbq area.Bunkhouse with garden out the front.
View from our camp. One of our walks took us to the top of the hill in the background.
Our campsite.
There were old pieces of farm machinery and cars dotted around the area.
On leaving Fraser Range we headed the 100klms into Norseman to get some food. The prices were pretty awful so we got some fruit for lunch and then headed of towards Kalgoorlie, arriving at the caravan park mid afternoon.
